Greetings from my studio in Oakland!
How’s everything in your world?? I can’t believe we’re heading into November. It’s been a busy few months and I’m happy to share some new work with you here.
I’ve been working on paper and experimenting with abstract line and color. Paper feels light and intense, more energetic than canvas. It’s also unforgiving so I just let go and painted without restricting or censoring myself. It’s such a pleasure to be able to work full time as an artist. An absolute dream come true.
I finalized a commissioned work this week for a lovely new collector family. I’m so happy they love it! You’ll see the image below. It’s nice to be in the flow of working in my studio. The Autumn light is gorgeous and always reminds me of my New England roots.

Momentum
I began working with a mindset coach about a year and a half ago and it’s been a profoundly satisfying journey. There’s been quite a bit of change/expansion and it feels like I have tapped into a deep momentum of creative flow.
This painting feels so light and joyous to me. I find it thrilling when a painting (or a drawing or a sculpture or a piece of jewelry, etc.) can perfectly express a feeling that you’ve been trying to get across. There are no need for words. And that it keeps giving. It keeps reflecting back to the viewer. I love that.
I’m so grateful.. seriously, the luckiest person alive.

This new piece was inspired by the song Freedom! ’90 on George Michael’s brilliant Listen Without Prejudice record. Where would we be without our artists?? I wish he was still here with us and I’m grateful to all artists who stand in the face of hate and other challenges they should not have to endure. I see you and stand with you in love and solidarity.
All we have to do now, is take these lies and make them true somehow… All we have to see, is that I don’t belong to you and you don’t belong to me… yeah yeah…

I’m in love with Autumn and gardens and tea houses. The pleasure of being around plants, trees and flowers, especially when you can sit awhile and take it in. I imagine these places often and this painting represents place and season and quiet.

This color combination is so inviting… it draws my attention and everything else just kind of falls off for a few minutes. It’s good to be able to stay with something for a bit and let go of any chatter.
